HELP US BUILD ILLUMACANTH
The Illumacanth is an enormous deep-sea fish charging up through the earth. It is a metaphor for extreme adaptation in a changing world.
The fish jaws and head are all that is visible. It’s 25 feet long and 18 feet high, shaped like an oval dome with its giant mouth as an entrance. The outside is deep purple spiky steel with flame effects at its crown. The inside is a glowing fabric environment.
The Illumacanth makes light, fire, shade, and an unforgettable experience.
Tiny particles of distant life drift down into the darkest intersection of sea and earth, igniting in the jaws of a waiting predator. Shocked by the flash of new information, the Illumacanth opens its mind and a swirl of new ideas erupts. Thrashing and flailing with the trauma of change, the great beast is suddenly possessed by an urgency to leave the cold depths of its experience. Turning in a new direction and charging across the boundaries of land and air, the Illumacanth leaps toward the sky. It gasps at the vibrancy of life but is driven onward by the fire in its mind. The Illumacanth installation is a moment in this story, telling of its origins and its trajectory. You can explore its surge of inspiration, and let your burning notions spur you to action.
